Sony E3 2015 Breakdown!

Sony had a grocery list of games to be announced. Starting with the ever so hopeful The Last Guardian. The game is about a little boy and a giant feathery bird or dog creature. Little is known about the game, but I hope this game will be epic. I mean people have only been waiting about 8 years!

New game entitled, “Horizon: Zero Dawn” is set in a futuristic, but prehistoric setting. For example, you see robotic dinosaurs that are hunting. This gave has a female protagonist to it, which honestly shouldn’t be a big deal, but it is. The videogame industry is highly male dominated, but I say if millions can enjoy the swift moving Faith from Mirror’s Edge, then this game has a shot.

Agent 47 makes his debut return in the new Hitman game called…Hitman. Agent 47 returns from a long absence back into his skillful and deadly ways of hunting down targets. I enjoyed Hitman: Absolution, so hopefully this reboot trumps its predecessor.

The large scaled procedurally generated game, No Man’s Sky, held a live demonstration of the game. This game is huge. Stars upon stars, suns upon suns, cosmos upon cosmos. The game is so big that a lot of the planets will never be discovered. Hopefully, launches properly and not create a black hole of rage.

Many other games such as Dreams, Fire Watch, and some PS Vita games made an appearance. Each one seem interesting and fun, so hopefully others think the same.

Fans rejoiced proudly over the announcement trailer of the remake of Final Fantasy 7. I am not a big Final Fantasy fan, but I guess this announcement was something thousands have been waiting to hear.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End had a very interesting live demo. During after a cutscene was done to give the player control, nothing happen. As in the Nathan was just standing there for 15 seconds not moving. After that they restarted the trailer again, which corrected the problem. The live demo at Nathan in a car chase trying to flee the scene from some goons. Very crazy, very wild, very Uncharted!

StarWars Battlefront made an appearance with some multiplayer footage and Black Ops 3 did the same showing off a 4 player coop multiplayer demo.

The biggest announcement that rocked the house was  Shenmue 3. Legendary creator, Yu Suzuki, made a surprise appearance announcing the KickStarter project for Shenmue 3. This $2 million dollar KickStarter was fully funded in 13 hours and at the time of this post it is at $3,287,802.

Sony did a spectacular job at E3! Some may say their best conference in a long time. I am now thinking of purchasing a PS4 because these games are awesome!

Gaming Slump… Not Due to a Lack of Videogames!

So by the title of this post you can assume that I am going through a gaming slump – by which I mean I have games to play, but am too exhausted to play them. Let me explain. The games I have are not bad games at all;  The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Batman Arkham: Knight are exciting and fun games to play. However, with “life” being “life”, I am pretty tired once I get home from work. Of course, most play videogames to relax. I do as well. But the fact of the matter is that the games I own are long narrative driven games, and currently games such as Dragon Age: Inquisition and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt feel more of an arduous chore than an enjoyable gaming experience.

But you like games that have a lot of content to them right? Yes. Yes I do. So what’s the problem? The issue is that as much as I want to go back onto my trusty stead, Roach, I feel drained just knowing how little I played these titles already. Well what are you going to do about it? Well I am not for sure at the moment, which is why I writing this post. Obviously, I have a passion for videogames and the culture surrounding it, but sometimes you need a break.

So how should I proceed to getting back into the habit of playing my videogames again? To be clear, I have not quit games cold turkey. To be quite frank, I am apart of small gaming group, but I will discuss that in another post. I guess my issue in particular is how to continue with longer videogames. In this case, finishing an RPG game?

If you have any suggestions let me know! Who knows?! Your comment may lead to a swift and speedy recovery back into in the wonderful lands of blissful gaming!

Xbox Shows Off at Gamescom 2015!

Microsoft came out strong and ferocious at the Gamesom conference in Cologne, Germany. As an Xbox man myself, I am extremely happy. Of course, majority of everything that was presented was previously announced, but gameplay trailers were finally shown this time around. Platinum Games’s Scalebound has been on my radar since E3 2014. Platinum Games are also responsible for creating hit games such as Bayonetta, Vanquish, and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.  In Scalebound the protagonist is an upbeat teen who has dragon-like powers and speed. Did I forget to mention you control a dragon that helps you in combat! The gameplay got me hyped to play this game, but I need to see a little bit more before I invest my money into it.

Besides the gorgeous Scalebound, Quantum Break and Crackdown 3 were both shown with new gameplay trailers. Quantum Break is a third-person shooter that allows the player to manipulate time to take out enemies in milliseconds! It’s also getting an Xbox TV show spin-off so, yeah I guess?! Crackdown 3 is the next installment to the fast-paced shooter Crackdown franchise. Its one big adrenaline rush with destructible environments. I will keep my on eye own it if I were you.

Of course, the big games such as Halo 5: Guardians and Rise of the Tomb Raider made an appearance. Halo 5 is officially Call of Duty in terms of multiplayer now. The game looks good, but I feel there is a Halo-ness spark missing or something of that nature. I love Halo so, I will still buy it just not on the day of release. I can wait. Lastly, Lara Croft was shown of infiltrating a camp full of baddies with guns. Needless to say, she handled them like a boss! Here is a link to the trailer so you can witness the magic!

The games mentioned above were just the highlights for me, but here is the link to watch the full Xbox at Gamescom briefing. Fall 2015 is going to be pretty awesome for Xbox players, especially with the power of Windows 10. Now let’s hope between now a December there will be no push backs, major delays, and/or broken game releases. One can only hope!
