Square Enix recently announced that they will be hosting their own E3 press conference. This makes them the second publisher to hold their own conference at E3. I had a feeling that something like this would happen again as predicted in an earlier post “Bethesda Steps Up to the E3 plate!“. So what is in store for gamers?
Hopefully, Square Enix will show off Final Fantasy XV! I am not the biggest fan of the franchise due to the lack of experience, but I have heard and seen some good things about it. Kingdom Hearts 3 is another crowd favorite. You can watch the announcement trailer here. I honestly cannot wait to see gameplay footage on Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Deus Ex: Human Revolution is one of my favorite games, so to play as Adam Jensen again is going to be great. I hope!
E3 is packed this year! So buckle up and hang on because E3 is fast approaching! Generally, there are a few spoilers and leaks before E3, which is not always a bad thing. Leaks allow gamers to see an edited or unedited sneak peek(s) of hit videogames.
So if you are into fighting games you might have picked Mortal Kombat X this past week. I have been a fan of the Mortal Kombat franchise since, Mortal Kombat: Deception. Of course, my burning passion was reignited by the reboot with Mortal Kombat (2011). I played the game consistently for about a year straight. I actually became pretty good, especially with my favorite character Kung Lao. Kung Lao just had such finesse and style that kept my attention with Mortal Kombat. Now the new MKX is out and some say it has “revolutionized” and “evolved” the entire Mortal Kombat franchise.
I have been missing my proverbial warrior spirit for sometime now. I remember year after Mortal Kombat (2011) was released questions started swirling around about the next Mortal Kombat game. Netherrealm Studios was tight lipped about their next installment into the franchise. Just like most top games, MKX was announced at E3. Needless to say, everyone was excited for it, including me. So that it is out and gamers have their Dorito flavored fingers on it, how is the game.
The game is awesome! All new modes, characters, challenges bring an added spark to the MK franchise. Improved graphics and character model makes this smoothest looking and feeling MK game ever! The new characters such as Cassie Cage, Kung Jin, Jacqui Briggs, add in new fighting techniques and strategies, even if some of them resembles other MK fighters. The biggest push from Netherrealm is their Faction system, in which you picked one of six factions or groups to choose to be apart of. This is basically a worldly tournament in which everyone contributes points towards their faction to control over Earthrealm. I for one enjoy, especially because you add points to faction in whatever game type you are playing, including story mode. The story mode is hit or miss some people, which is the main reason why reviewers are giving MK between an 8 and a 9. I for one enjoyed the story, also the comics give interesting backstory on the characters which helps the overall lore of Mortal Kombat.
I am just happy that my warrior’s spirit has been revitalized for the time being. I will be practicing frequently because I really want to get good at the game. Mortal Kombat phenomes such Justin Wong and Perfect Legend have definitely taught me a lot about fighting games in general. Definitely check them out on YouTube and Twitch. This post was supposed to be more of a reflection of my memories with Mortal Kombat, but it turned into a mini review. Hmmm…seems legit!
The passage of time is an uncontrollable tunnel that we all must go through. This metaphor and post is suppose to help explain my absence from my blog. The time I spent not on this blog was being spent doing school work. However, my school work has involved me doing papers on videogames. Each paper focuses on the topic of broken videogames. Most of us would agree that buying a “broken vidoegame” sucks. Videogame at their core functionality are suppose to be engaging and fun. A broken videogame however, takes the fun out of playing our favorite games. This topic is what I have involved myself with over the past two months or so. Besides broken videogames, I have been working on two other projects around this incredible medium.
First, I have been working on a way on attending this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo(E3). Through the help of my mentor and others, I will hopefully be able to attend E3 this summer. Things are already in the works on making this happened. I will post updates on the progress of this venture.
Secondly, I am headed to Youtube! That is right! I, Jaystonee will be starting a YouTube Channel called A&J Media. I will not be alone on this channel for my partner named, Ella, will be with me. This channel will comprised of three parts. Jaystonee on the Program will be hosted by me for I will be giving commentary, opinions, and maybe reviews on videogames. Ella, short for Umbrellaleg, will be giving mostly commentary on her favorite games as well as comics. She as well will have her side of the channel entitled, Ella’s Thoughts (working title). Also, she has started her own WordPress blogsite which you can check out here. Lastly, there will be have videos that has us together discussing important issues, topics, or trends in videogames and comic books. We are really excited to start. Launch date is yet to be determined.
So, that’s it! So I have been doing a lot! Hopefully, this will all pan out in the end. My papers will posted on the site as soon as I can. E3 plans will be updated when made available. A&J Media launch date will be announced soon. Ella is definitely excited to bring her voice and opinions to the conversation of videogame and comic book cultures. Thanks for the continued support of my blogsite and hopefully I will see you all on YouTube. Lastly, who can follow Ella here on twitter and the channel here. Thanks again!
